The news of Ned's death spreads all over the Seven Kingdoms which has an effect on all the members of the Stark family. The North secedes from the Seven Kingdoms and proclaim Robb as their King. With Jaime captured by the Starks and Robert's brothers challenging Joffrey's claim to the throne, Tywin assigns Tyrion as Hand of the King to keep Joffrey and Cersei in check. Jon attempts to desert to avenge his father but his friends convince him to stay, and joins the Night's Watch in an expedition beyond the Wall. Daenerys learns to her sorrow that her unborn son died and her husband Drogo has been left in vegetative state due to Mirri's magic. Unable to bear it, Daenerys ends her husband's life and has his body burn on a pyre along with her dragon eggs and Mirri. Daenerys walks into the pyre, but comes out unharmed with three newborn dragons.
